Mazorca Colectiva is a community-based organization located in East Elmhurst and Jackson Heights, Queens in unceded Lenape Territory. We are dedicated to reclaiming a harmonious relationship with each other, and the land, through nurturing the ancestral wisdom of our community.
The history of Mazorca Colectiva is multifaceted. The urgency to weave community was born in response to the immigration system’s treatment of immigrant families. Our community has been forcibly displaced from our homelands and, upon arrival, are faced with incarceration and an immigration legal system that extracts personal histories of violence, without acknowledging the impact of decades of foreign intervention, militarization, and land-grabs by multinational corporations. We use our ancestral practices to heal the wounds inflicted by these systems.
At Mazorca Colectiva, we believe that the seeds of the future are found in the wisdom of our ancestors. We are a community of immigrants, Indigenous Peoples, and voices from the Global South dedicated to reclaiming our roots and nurturing the cycle of life.
Whether you are a mother, a caretaker, or someone looking to reconnect with the land, your hands and heart are welcome here. Join us as we learn from the earth and preserve the traditions that sustain us. Let’s grow together.
